Chicken Duty |
Daily
Ensure chickens have clean water. Use water from the tank to top up the water if necessary.
Unhook water container.
- Empty the dregs outside of the coop, the green tray twists off.
- Half fill the white bucket section with water and place it on the ground.
- Twist the green tray on the bucket section, it should lock into place, like a lid.
- Turn the whole water container upside down, water will trickle out of the hole in the bucket to fill the green tray.
- Replace the water container on the bricks.
Ensure chickens have plenty of food.
- You may bring vegetable scraps from home eg lettuce, apple, potato peelings.
- Pellet food supply is in the galvanised bin under the water tank. Replace bin lid and push container under water tank (rain will cause the food to go mouldy).
Check the water tank filter (on top of tank) is free of debris.
Check the nesting boxes for eggs, you may keep these eggs. Please do not leave eggs in the nesting boxes as we do not want the chickens to peck at them and break them.
Ensure gate is padlocked when you leave (ensure latch handle is down before inserting and locking the padlock).
Padlock Key: Pick up the key from the office prior to your rostered duty. Pull on lock to ensure it has engaged.
