Syndal South Working Bees

WorkingBee

Our school grounds are a great asset and very beautiful. We depend on all school families to contribute to their maintenance. Syndal South Working Bees are a major part of the school’s environmental culture and as such children are also encouraged to attend with their parents. Children learn about community participation and responsibility, through your attendance and assistance in maintaining the school grounds.

Bee

Each school family is rostered for one Sunday a year, from 9-11 a.m. School Council has contracted out the lawn mowing so your time can be spent in tidying the garden areas and generally improving the appearance of the school.

Bee

Two Team Leaders will be in charge. Meet them at the garden shed near the chook shed to be allocated duties and have your attendance noted.

Bee

When you attend your rostered morning it is important that your name is recorded by the Team Leader/s so that your levy can be refunded. Alternately, you may decide you are unable to attend and therefore donate $100 to the Grounds budget to cover costs associated with working bees and grounds maintenance.

Bee

The roster has been organised according to the grade of your older/est (or only) SSPS child. See below.

Bee

If you cannot attend on your rostered day, please arrange your own swap and attend another day.

Bee

If you have missed your Grade's Working Bee you can attend on any rostered Sunday and make sure your attendance is noted.

Bee

Typical duties include pruning, planting, weeding, spreading mulch & clearing paths, depending on the time of year and what needs doing. The school has most equipment except secateurs; if possible please bring your own pair for pruning. There are lots of garden gloves but you may prefer to BYO.

Bee

Thank you in advance for your help in maintaining the grounds. Remember, by helping to keep the school grounds in good shape, you are helping your child/ren to get the most out of their school.
