With grounds as large and beautiful as ours, it should come as no surprise Syndal South has a robust culture when it comes to physical activity. The Federation Track that runs around the border of the school is where you will see the Jogging Club warming up in the morning. Our dedicated netball court, basketball court, soccer pitch and football oval have aspiring athletes practising their skills in sports lessons and free time alike.
Headed by a well renowned PE teacher, our PE program sees students receiving expert teaching on the importance of physical health while developing a deep love of physical and social activity. Students participate in weekly physical education lessons to build on their athletics, ball handling, manipulation, sports education and knowledge of health. Our well established physical education program sees students engaging in the Bike Ed program as well as participating in extra sessions that focus on learning and engaging in social and team sports.
Students in Foundation to Year 2 experience weekly Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) sessions. The Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) is a movement-based program which helps younger students improve their hand-eye coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills – all of which are essential for success in the classroom. Each week students rotate through a range of activities using their gross motor, visual-motor, auditory-motor, tactile and lateralisation skills as well as body awareness and spatial awareness.
